In Kampala… the journey begins

We have touched down in Uganda and the journey has begun!

A journey of patience (especially when we queue outside Immigration Room 1 to be told we need a police check from Australia to stay for more than 30 days)…

A journey of prayer (which continues for the duration of a trip on the back of a boda boda – motorbike taxi – and we weave and honk our way through bustling Kampala.

A journey in a new culture (where car batteries are not kept in cars for sale – and when they do put one in they don’t start; and where phone shops have no advertising, no posters and no lists of deals just a salesman that apparently has it ‘all in his head’ but seems to be suffering from ‘amnesia’…

Yep, This Is Africa! (TIA)…

Heading up to Gulu tomorrow.

Goodbyes!

To our awesome friends in sunny oz and chilly UK: thank you so much for showering us with your love, kindness, hospitality and incredible generosity! It has been brilliant to spend time and be spoilt by many of you. The countdown is on and we fly to Uganda this Thursday morning. Feeling a little excited as well as nervous. First up on the agenda will be looking for a place to live: dream place will have a flush toilet and electricity, although I have been told by a few that the flush toilets can be a little over-rated, especially if they break down 🙂 Stay tuned…

Thanks for all your prayer and support. We hope to update this regularly and have some cool stories/photos to share. Speak soon,

Love Dan & Jodes x

Hello world!

In January, 2013, Dan and I will be embarking on an exciting new adventure to Gulu, Uganda, to serve the community with The East African Missionary Society. We are quite excited but also a little anxious. If you want to find out more about our roles there, click on the About Us section.

At the moment we are in oz, reconnecting with family (that means driving thousands of miles, eating lots of hamburgers, dodging – or killing – snakes and spiders and chilling out on the beach).

We shared at Nambucca Christian Life Centre (in Australia) recently about what we will be doing in Uganda. We made this little photo presentation for the talk. If you want to see it, click below:
